Current activities – October and November 2011

In the course of October and November 2011 Secretariat for Child Care continued implementation of a range of programs and practical pre-school children care measures in the newly formed settlements.

At regular meetings with social workers and teachers employed at pre-school facilities that these children attend representatives of the Secretariat were informed on the children’s stay at the facility: how they had blended in and what their progress was, if they participated in all the activities and what their relationship with teachers looked like. Seventeen out of eighteen children attended the pre-school preparation program.

Pre-school employees paid visits to the settlements on a regular basis and communicated with the parents of Roma children who attend the pre-school preparation program. Good cooperation has been established with all of them.

In all pre-school facilities winter wardrobe charity is under way. The donated clothes will be given to the children by pre-school representatives during their regular visits to the settlements.

Apart from this, other activities have been continued. Some 100 children from all five settlements attended children’s play on ice Princesses and Heroes in Belgrade Arena.

In all five settlements the Secretariat will provide New Year present packages for children up to age 10.
