Company Registration


The responsibility for company registrations lies with the Business Registers Agency. The entire procedure takes 18 days at maximum, which, according to the World Bank is significantly shorter than the average in the European and Central Asian region which stands at 32 days. 


The forms of company structures that exist in Serbia are almost identical to those in developed countries. A company may be registered in one of the following forms:

  • Joint Stock Company (a.d.)
  • Limited Liability Company (d.o.o),
  • Limited Partnership (k.d.),
  • Partnership Company (o.d.).

Banks and insurance houses are registered as joint stock companies with the National Bank of Serbia (www.nbs.yu), while leasing companies, in the form of joint stock companies or limited liability companies as well as representative offices are registered with the Business Registers Agency ( 


The registration process for a typical company (d.o.o.) in Belgrade, which comprises 10 steps and incurs minimal cost, takes 18 days. From 2008, companies will be able to complete the whole registration procedure in one place - the Business Registers Agency, and the procedure should be reduced to 10 days.
