Belgrade is the seat of the highest state and national institutions of culture and arts: Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), the National Library of Serbia, the National Museum, the National Theatre and the University of Arts. In Belgrade there are the most significant architectural deeds, Kalemegdan and Belgrade fortress, cultural monuments and other immovable cultural properties. The City of Belgrade is the founder and patron of 11 manifestations in the domain of culture, and it also supports programs of 69 manifestations in the domain of culture which are held in Belgrade.
For culture and arts within the City Administration the relevant body is the Secretariat for culture.
The Belgrade City Library is the largest library in the country. The Belgrade City Library consists of a central unit and 13 organizational units within the municipalities.
