Current Activities – October and November 2011

In the course of October and November 2011 Secretariat for Education continued implementation of a range of programs and practical school children care measures in the newly formed settlements.

By regular communication with representatives of municipalities and educational assistants, representatives of the Secretariat were informed about the regularity of school attendance, as well as how children blended in and about their achievements. This way the Secretariat can duly react and contact parents whose children do not attend classes regularly.

Practice has been continued of regular visits to the settlements and communication with parents in order to remind them that institutional education is important for their children and that elementary school is compulsory.

During November 2011, school attended 100 pupils out of 101, age 7 to 15. Attendance was higher than last month. For those interested, enrollment in adult elementary education school has been enabled. One child with special needs has been enrolled in the boarding school. On weekdays he lives in school, while on weekends he stays with his parents in the settlement.

Having in mind that the end of trimester was at the beginning of November, representatives of the Secretariat organized a meeting with school representatives, social work centers, educational assistants and municipalities. The children’s achievement in the trimester is as follows: 7% of the students achieved very good results, 12% good, 10% sufficient, 43% insufficient, 21% have no final grades, while 7% of the students have no final grades due to irregular attendance.

Visits and consultations with all parents are planned in all settlements, especially with the parents of those children whose performance is poor.
